The Maths Key Stage 3 Courses
The brand new Oxford Home Schooling Key Stage 3 Maths courses have been designed to gently introduce your child to the various aspects of the Key Stage 3 Maths curriculum.
There are three substantial and separate courses, one for Year 7, one for Year 8 and one for Year 9. Students may enrol for each one separately or all three at once.
Each of the three courses includes at least fifteen lessons covering:
- Numbers
- Algebra
- Shapes, Space and Measure
- Handling Data
Each OHS KS3 Maths course has been designed to guide your child through the subject in logical, easy to follow steps building on their understanding as their confidence grows.
The courses are written in an informal and lively style with plenty of diagrams and illustrations to keep your child engaged with the material.
Each course contains Self-Assessment Tests and Tutor-marked Assignments (TMAs) at various points in the course to help you and your child gauge his/her progress. There are six substantial TMAs for each year, ensuring that progress is regularly monitored and gaps in understanding are spotted and rectified.
The Year 9 course, for instance, covers a broad range of topics suitable for 13-14 year olds, but could be studied at any age, and leads naturally into the study of GCSE or IGCSE Mathematics.
Students develop their maths skills at widely varying speeds and it is not necessary to spend three years on this set of courses if the concepts have all been successfully covered and the student is ready to go on to GCSE or higher level study.
