    Course information

    In this International GCSE course students will cover a range of topics, including poetry and prose, as well as various other techniques that’ll help to develop their writing and language skills. There’ll also be a consistent focus on vocabulary, grammar, spelling and punctuation – just four key skills that are essential in everyday life.

    While reading will help students to understand and collate meanings, assignments will enable them to articulate their own experiences, express feelings and present their thoughts in a clear and cohesive way.

    The course itself will be split into 5 Modules.

    Examinations and assignments

    There are two papers that all students must sit in order to pass the International GCSE English.

    • Paper 1 – lasts for 2 hours and 15 minutes and is worth 60% of the final mark.
    • Paper 2 – lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and is worth 40% of the final mark.

     

    Course duration and study time

    When you enrol with Oxford Home Schooling we will agree on an intended examination date with you.  Your support will last all the way up to this examination date, regardless of whether you decide to do the course in 9 months or 30.

    The recommended number of study hours for this course is 200 hours.

    What’s next?

    With an International GCSE English course tucked under their belt, students have a wealth of options to choose from. While the majority choose to enter the world of higher education – studying A levels before heading off to university – others use their International GCSE English as a ticket into the world of work.
