Course content
The course contains 43 lessons across eight modules. Pure mathematics provides the main foundation, supported by applied modules in mechanics and statistics.
The modules should normally be studied in sequence because later pure mathematics, mechanics and statistics work builds directly on techniques introduced during the first year.
Exams and assessment
AQA A-level Mathematics is assessed through three equally weighted written papers. Pure mathematics can be assessed on every paper, with Paper 2 adding mechanics and Paper 3 adding statistics.
Questions range from short, single-mark tasks to extended multi-stage problems. A permitted calculator is required for all three examinations.

Assesses proof, algebra, coordinate geometry, sequences, trigonometry, exponentials, logarithms, differentiation, integration and numerical methods.
