What you’ll study
The Year 8 course contains 25 structured lessons across five modules. Students develop Spanish through practical topics including holidays, entertainment, food, celebrations and social activities before consolidating the year through dedicated revision.
Year 8 extends communication beyond simple present-tense language, helping students describe past experiences, discuss everyday life and talk about future plans with greater confidence.
Assessment and progress
Progress is developed and checked through lesson activities, self-assessment and nine tutor-marked assignments. Students demonstrate both written and spoken Spanish, with the final assignment providing a structured review of language developed across the year.
Regular assessment
TMAs A–H appear throughout the course and provide regular opportunities to demonstrate vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and communication skills.
End-of-year assessment
The final assignment follows the revision module and gives students an opportunity to bring together language and skills developed across Year 8.
Speaking
The final part of each TMA includes a speaking exercise, giving students repeated opportunities to practise communicating aloud.
Self-assessment
Short activities and end-of-lesson tests help students identify what they understand and what needs further practice.
Grammar
Students practise choosing and combining present, preterite and near-future forms in increasingly varied contexts.
Communication
