Year 9 asks students to combine language more independently, moving between different time frames, expressing opinions and discussing personal, social and environmental issues.
Assessment and progress
Progress is developed and checked through lesson activities, self-assessment and nine tutor-marked assignments. Students demonstrate both written and spoken Spanish, with the final assessment bringing together language and skills developed across Key Stage 3.
Regular assessment
TMAs A–H appear throughout the course and provide regular opportunities to demonstrate vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and communication skills.
End-of-year assessment
The final assignment follows revision and provides an opportunity to bring together the language and skills developed through Year 9 before progressing to GCSE study.
Speaking
The final part of each TMA includes a speaking exercise, giving students repeated opportunities to develop confidence communicating aloud.
Self-assessment
Short activities and end-of-lesson tests help students identify strengths and areas requiring further practice.
