Business A Level

Course information

Our Business A level course comprises twelve modules: six at AS level and a further six at A level.

In the AS level, you’ll learn the basics of running a business, including modules dedicated to effective management, good marketing, setting financial and operational objectives and using human resources.

When you progress to A Level, you’ll build on the knowledge you’ve already established and gain deeper insight into topics like financial control, business environments and change management.

Throughout the course, you will progress through fifteen tutor-marked assignments, as well as completing activities and self-assessment tests to ensure you gain a well-rounded knowledge of the subject.

Examining board and exams

The Business A Level course has been developed specifically for the AQA Business A level qualification. The syllabus numbers are:

AS level-7131
A level-7132

The AS level component is assessed by two 90-minute exams and three two-hour exams for the A level. These exams take place in May and June each year.

In order to be awarded an A level, students will need to sit the AS and the 2nd Year components of the course in one summer examination sitting. The AS level may be examined and awarded separately but will not count towards the A level award.
