Interpreting your Economics A level pre-release materials -

Interpreting your Economics A level pre-release materials

    What is the Advanced Information

The main aim is to help you use your revision time effectively. In the case of Economics, you will see that the advice consists of a list of topics which will be the “major focus” of questions in your exams.

The advice given is quite detailed and specific so we recommend close study. It appears that quite a few sub-topics are unlikely to come up in any ‘direct’ form. To take just one example, in Topic Area 4.1.4 (Production Costs and Revenue), sub-topics 4.1.4.1 through to 4.1.4.6 are overlooked, while only the last two, 4.1.4.7 (Profit) and 4.1.4.8 (Technological Change) are likely to appear. So you should prioritise those two, perhaps at the expense of Diseconomies of Scale and Marginal Revenue, for example.

    Study the Whole Course

If a topic is not on the list, it does not mean you can ignore it. Every topic on the specification may be relevant to the answer of some question or the focus of a question with a smaller number of marks.

Our general advice is to complete all lessons but to keep this list of topics close to hand during the revision process and make sure you are particularly well prepared to answer questions on all these named topics.
