Interpreting your Law A level pre-release materials

    What is the Advanced Information

The main aim is to help you use your revision time effectively. In the case of Law, you will see that the advice consists of a list of topics which will be the “major focus” of questions in your exams.

It is quite a detailed list so it will take you a little while to digest the differences between this list and the full list of topics contained in the AQA Law specification. So, for instance, when working towards Paper 1 and covering Specification Section 3.2 (Criminal Law), you will see that a question on fatal offences against the person is likely, but a question directly on non-fatal offences won’t appear. Or, for Paper 3A (Contract), Section 3.4, you might be asked about Remedies but not about Vitiating Factors. Please study this list carefully.

    Study the Whole Course

If a topic is not on the list, it does not mean you can ignore it. Every topic on the specification may be relevant to the answer of some question or the focus of a question with a smaller number of marks.

Our general advice is to complete all lessons but to keep this list of topics close to hand during the revision process and make sure you are particularly well prepared to answer questions on all these named topics.
